Mecox Favorite Walks/Runs - Series #2 - New York |
 |
 |
 |

Three blocks from Mecox New York is the finest urban park in the world! Frederick Law Olmsted, the landscape designer and father of American landscape architecture, created Central Park in the untamed wilderness of central Manhattan. And one of our favorite jogging paths in the world is the famous 6 mile long Central Park Loop that winds through an amazing variety of landscapes, architecture and history of what epitomizes the best of a true "public park".
Jogging the Loop for the first time? Try it early morning at dawn to experience it at its best. Enter at 72nd Street on the east side. At one moment you are leaving grand Fifth Avenue and running north in the backyard of the Metropolitan Museum only to come upon the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, more commonly known as the Central Park Reservoir with spectacular city views of the skyline of Central Park West.
And then the next moment as you head north, you feel you may be in the Adirondack mountains! The North Woods have rock outcroppings and waterfalls and forests that are a million miles from the hustle of New York City.
And the last half of the jog heading south is even more varied - passing by the citizen lines camped out waiting for the free tickets to the outdoor productions of Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacort Theater, past Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon memorial in the shadow of his home at the Dakota and finally into the flats near Sheep's Meadow with Tavern on the Green steps away. What an inspiring run!
This incredible experience in many ways is due to the dedication of the Central Park Conservancy. The mission of the Central Park Conservancy is to restore, manage, and enhance Central Park in partnership with the public. The Conservancy is committed to to provide a legacy for future generations of Central Park users.
Please make a donation to the Conservancy and Mecox will issue you a Gift Certificate matching your gift to the Conservancy up to $500 in 2009 which will be available for use at any Mecox location. Just email us your donation receipt and mailing information to info@mecoxgardens.com and thanks for supporting the Conservancy!

Bunny Williams Charms Chicago
On Tuesday, June 16th, Bunny Williams charmed guests at Mecox Chicago to debut her premiere collection of decorative furniture and accessories for BeeLine Home. After a brief "walking tour" of her collection throughout the store during which Bunny described the derivation and evolution of her designs, the invited crowd munched happily on grilled shrimp, seared tuna, and beef tenderloin, all the while toasting Bunny's collection. She graciously personalized copies of both her books, to the delight of all!
A private dinner followed at Chicago's Ralph Lauren Restaurant, at which Bunny regaled us with marvelous anecdotes of her design career. Thank you Miss Bunny; come back to Chicago anytime!

Prestigous Design Award to Mary Gotovich Design |
 |
 |
| |
Congratulations to Mary Gotovich, one of our favorite friends of Mecox - and one of the most creative garden designers in the Hamptons - as well as she is a Mecox vendor!
Mary Gotovich of MTG Design, Ltd of East Hampton was awarded the Blue Ribbon at the venerable annual garden planter competiton at Longhouse Reserve. Presented by P.Allen Smith, an award-winning garden designer, best selling book author and host of two nationally syndicated television programs, Mary's design was a creative use of both unusual plant material as well as her beautiful eglomise outdoor garden mirrors. Mecox has several of her beautiful mirrors on sale in Mecox Southampton and Mary's design demonstrated how her mirrors can make a magical garden statement even in a small space.
The annual competiton is held at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, the ingenious garden and living art exhibition created by internationally know fabric designer Jack Lenor Larson.

"Chesterfield Sofas, A History of " |

"Chesterfield Sofas, A History of "
Chesterfield, is a turn of the phrase stemming back to the turn of the century when chesterfield became a word used to describe a sofa in Canada and certain parts of America.
In England , a davenport with arms and back at the same height in buttoned leather is referred to as a chesterfield sofa. There is a point of view that the name chesterfield was coined by a piece of furniture commissioned by the fourth Earl of Chesterfield- Philip Stanhope (1694-1773) , thus the name chesterfield .
A chesterfield sofa is an elegant piece of furniture with beautiful lines, patina, and tufting that bespeaks comfort and style , in a library or living room , or any room for that matter , exuding the "Mecox " look.
